Erin, Sarah, Machelle and Peggy

Cafeteria supervisor Erin George says the funniest thing to happen in the kitchen at Mississippi Creative Arts Magnet occurred when she met her staff for the first time. They thought she was twelve years old! Erin is the kid of the group, but this cafeteria staff has plenty of experience—a combined total of over 21 years of service in the district.

The staff serves about 200 breakfasts and 500 lunches a day and they say the best part is seeing the students’ smiling faces everyday. The students at Mississippi like the cheese bread and pizza the best because they can eat it with their fingers! The cafeteria staff loves the chili and cheese bread—it’s their favorite lunch.

According to Erin, there are many special things about her staff: Machelle has one granddaughter and a grandson on the way. Sarah has 34 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and likes to play bingo. Peggy has 2 boys; one is 18 and the other is 10. She likes to read and visit with friends. Erin works two jobs. She likes to read and visit with her family, especially her five special nieces and nephews.
